Featuring another who is no longer with us, in what must have been one of his very last
writings, our beloved late 'Communes Desk' secretary Sol Etzioni expressed his 'credo' about
what we used to call "Renewing Kibbutz" and I prefer to denominate (some might call it
demonicate ... ) "Regressing Kibbutz". Obviously, when a collective community introduces
differentiated salaries, it can no longer pretend to be an egalitarian society, even with the
excuse of a safety-net (which frequently shows more holes than meshes). Apparently
'Communities' published Sol's letter without realizing its being posthumous:
